When Glen and I were in the states, Alma was rescued from a brothel and brought to House of Hope. Many of you may remember seeing her picture and hearing about her. She came to HH looking much like a boy, the sadness and hurt oozed from her. When she was found, she was in a rope, much like a dog collar and 6 ft. leash. She also had ropes around her ankles, and was found tied to the back of the building. We later found out she had lived like that for 2 yrs. She was treated like a dog, because she would fight off the men,who would come and pay to violate her.
Hearing her story, broke us inside! We couldn't wait to get back to House of Hope, and we daily prayed that God would begin healing her and that the visions of torment would stop! We got back to House of Hope less than a month ago. Alma would shy away from us and would hide when she saw Glen. We could only look her in the eye, smile at her and give her space, praying she would begin to see Jesus in us.
Today, I saw mercy........walked out in the flesh!
Glen had left in the car, to go get some materials for construction. He had been gone for a while, when Alma ran up to me and said "Donde es Glen?"
I told her where he went, and that he would be back soon. We stood chatting and hugging and all of a sudden she heard our car coming down the lane. Her eyes got Huge! She jumped up and down, squealing..."Glen, es Glen!!!!" Looked up at me not knowing what to do..
The next thing I knew, she let go of me and RAN! .................Straight down to my now parked car. As the door opened, she grabbed ahold of it and gave Glen a great big hug! She spent the next 1/2 hour holding his hand and walking around helping him work!
That is something only God can do! Thru Glens pure heart, she feels Jesus!
To take a little girl, who for years, only knew the abuse she endured from any man who came near her.......
